    1. ) Mrs. Newell Dudley passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William B. Hilbert, residing at 215 West Twelfth street, Thursday evening, after a lingering illness. Pneumonia is given as the cause of death.

      Ella Elizabeth Howard was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Howard, at Bellevue, Nebraska, February 10, 1863. Later the family moved to New York state and Miss Howard was married to Newell Dudley in 1879. In 1881, they moved to Nebraska and resided on a farm twelve miles northwest of this city. Mr. Dudley preceded his wife in death on October 19, 1924. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Hilbert, with who the deceased had resided, and Fred N. Dudley, 416 East Eleventh street. Two grandchildren, Elaine and Alta Hilbert, and a sister, Mrs. J. L. Walker, of Staples, Minn., also survive.

      Funeral services will be held from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert, Sunday at 2 p.m. and from the Trinity M.E. church, at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Paul Hillman in charge. Burial will be at the Grand Island cemetery.

    1. ) "Stricken suddenly while engaged at his daily duties, Newell Dudley, Grand Island resident for more than thirty years, was found dead by his wife about nine o' clock Sunday morning in a room in the Hedde building, of which he had been custodian for several years. Dr. Earle Farnsworth, who was in his office in the building at the time, was immediately summoned by Mrs. Dudley, but no signs of life were evident. He had apparently been dead for about twenty minutes.

      Mr. Dudley, as was his custom arose early Sunday morning to attend his duties. H seemed to be in his usual good health and Mrs. Dudley, who was with her husband a short time before his death, had detected no signs of illness.

      Mr. Dudley was born in Altona, Clinton County, New York on December 25, 1858, being 65 years of age. He was united in marriage with Miss Ella E. Howard on July 4, 1879. In 1881, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley came to Nebraska to reside. For a number of years he was engaged in farming near this city. Later, he conducted a dray line in Grand Island, being engaged at this work for many years. He gained a wide acquaintance of friends, and was a familiar figure about town, being referred to by many of his closer friends and associates as "Dud." About six years ago he took over custodianship of the Hedde building, occupying roomes over he Commercial State bank building.

      Surviving him, besides the bereaved widow, are a son, Fred N., and a daughter, Mrs. Albert Hilbert, and two grandchildren, Elaine and Alta Hilbert, all of Grand Island.

      Funeral services will be held at the Trinity M.E. church on Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock. Rev. C.E. Knapp will officiate in the absence from the city of Rev. Hunter. Burial will take place at the Grand Island Cemetery. Friends of the family wishing to view the body may do so at the undertaking parlors of the O'Loughlin-Livingston company between the hours of 10 am and 12 noon Wednesday."
