Much of the information here was taken from a manuscript written by my Great Aunt, Maude Evaleen(Howard) Saunders, born Sep. 3, 1866, older sister of my Grandmother, Gertrude May (Howard)Dunkley, born Oct. 28, 1877. The manuscript was written c. 1934. It appeared serialized in the “Cataraqui Loyalist Town Crier” vol. 28, nos 2-5, March to November 2009. It was made public through the efforts of her Great Grandson, Member Henry Roenke of Geneva, New York.
