Rachel Howard was born to Philip Howard and Sarah, maiden name unknown about 1690. Following the death of her father in 1704, her mother remarried to Henry Pinkney, and the children moved to his plantation in Middle Neck Hundred. Pinkney was recognized as thier guardian the next year. A 200 acre tract of land called Warner's Neck was surveyed and purchased for the children by 1707, as well as another 100 acre tract. A 180 acre claim of Lancaster's Plains was similarly held for them. These holdings were maintained by Maj. Joshia Wilson. Pinkney died some time shortly after 1709; he may have been insolvent.
Wilson kept the land holdings. Rachel's mother worked to support the children. Rachel Howard married Thomas Hinton on August 28, 1718, at St. Ann's Parish. The same year, she received the remaining funds from her inheritance from Philip.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Rachel by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Rachel:
The information on theDNA confirmation statement isnt sufficient to support triangulation on WikiTree. The size of the shared segment is less than 7 cM. Please read the triangulation instructions for WikiTree here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Triangulation It includes this statement: Three or more cousins need to all match each other on a single segment of DNA that is at least 7cM long.
