Biography

John Howden was born on 17 July 1757 and baptised on 28 July 1757 in Yester, Haddingtonshire, son of Patrick Howden and Janet (Renton) Howden. Witnesses to the baptism were Patrick Findlayson and John Watson. [1]

On 21 November 1790 he married Janet Whitelaw at Haddington, Haddingtonshire. He was a labourer. The cautioners to the marriage were Patrick Howden and Richard Whitelaw. [2] The marriage was also recorded in Dirleton, Haddingtonshire on 6 November 1790. [3] They had 2 children.

On 29 January 1792 he was a labourer living in Kingston, Dirleton, Haddingtonshire. Ref: 30 199. [4]
