Narrative: George Washington Howe lived in Hudson and Milo, Maine where he was a lawyer. He served as a Selectman of Milo, was a member of the State Legislature and was Judge of the Probate Court in Piscataquis County, Maine ^[1]

Civil War Veteran: George W. Howe served in the U.S. Civil War as a private in Company B, 22nd Maine Regiment. Enlisted 10 Sep 1862, discharged 14 Aug 1863. ^[8]

However the Howe Genealogies, page 360 shows 24 Apr 1834. Confirmed by census enumerations through out the years, including 1900 when birth date was given as Apr 1834. ^{[1] [9]}
