Biography

Born in Poultney, Vermont 30 Sep 1822. His family moved to New York state where he married in 1848 Lois Elizabeth McCreedy. They lived in Plattsburgh, New York, where he was a farmer. They moved with other family members to Charlevoix, Michigan about 1866. They had five sons.^[1]

Research Notes

The Howe Genealogies contradicts itself as to Chauncy Howe's birthplace. The firsrt cited pages about his father's family liste Poultney, Vermont as his birthplace. The second reference lists his birthplace as Plattsburgh, New York. Poultney is probably the correct place, based on the birthplace of his younger siblings.
