AMHERST - Buck Howe, 73, died May 25 [2017] as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident. He was the husband of Ann Gouvalaris Howe of Amherst and son of the late Philip and Mary Howe of Hampton.
Buck was raised in Hampton and graduated from local schools. He was a Transportation Officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He later graduated from Boston University with a BS in Communications. For the last 33 years, he called Amherst his home but his heart always resided at "Camp" on Lovell Lake in Sanbornville. His family has had a cottage on the lake since 1929.
During his early years, Buck was a newspaper reporter and editor on the NH Seacoast. As a freelance photographer, Buck worked for a variety of Fortune 100 companies and had a photo published in Life magazine. He later transitioned to high tech marketing and public relations for the Digital Equipment Corporation and other well-known companies.
Professionally, he was most proud of his 10 years as an adjunct professor of business at the University of New Hampshire (Whittemore School of Business and Economics and the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics). He retired in 2017.
His affection for Lovell Lake had no bounds. For many years, he competed enthusiastically in the Sunfish sailboat races. His fishing prowess was well-known and he was a familiar figure trolling on the lake in his pontoon boat and taking photos of the wildlife and scenery. He authored a children's book, The Adventures of Louie the Little Loon of Lovell Lake, that included his photos of loon parents raising their chick.
Besides his wife, Buck is survived by his son, Philip T. Howe of Davenport, FL; a sister-in-law, Maria White of Merrimack; a nephew, Matthew Bland of Germantown, MD; and cousins scattered throughout the country.
A tax-deductible donation in Buck's memory may be made to the Lovell Lake Association, PO Box 232, Sanbornville, NH.
The family will celebrate Buck's life at a future date.

Just wanted to say hello and ask if you are related to the Howe's that owned the Wayside Inn? As I am through my Grandfather Arthur Proctor's line.

Do you mind if I remove USA or United States from some of your Smith profiles where it is too early for the USA? They are showing up on the error list. Vic
We are 11th cousins...ie William Tilton.
You have a big long string of red categories on your profile. Can I help sort that out? The string needs to be replaced with categories added separately. Categories that WikiTree currently has that match info in your string are:
[[Category: WikiTree Arborists]] [[Category: Hampton, New Hampshire]] [[Category: Hampton Falls, New Hampshire]] [[Category: Seabrook, New Hampshire]] [[Category: South Hampton, New Hampshire]] [[Category: Kensington, New Hampshire]] [[Category: Howe Name Study]] [[Category: Shaw Name Study]]
Replace the string with the categories to which you want to add your profile. You can add the other info to your profile as text.
Thanks for using WikiTree's categories,
Maryann
