Biography
Robert was born in Portinscale and baptised on 31 January 1839 in nearby Great Crosthwaite, Cumberland, England.[1] He was the son of Thomas and Martha. He was born in Portinscale in about 1839.
In the 1851 census Robert (age 12) was the son of Thomas Howe in , Cumberland, England.[2]
Robert's marriage to Martha Esther Howe was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1864 in the Cockermouth district.[3]
In the 1901 census Robert (age 62) was the married head of household in Penrith, Cumberland, England.[4] The household consisted of:
