Whig MP, Groom of the Bedchamber to King William III, then under Queen Anne he was Comptroller of the Excise. [1]
Scrope Howe, 1st Viscount Howe, was the eldest son of John Grobham Howe and Annabella Scrope.
He was Knighted on 16 March 1663, and was created 1st Viscount Howe on 6 May 1701.
He married 1ly in 1674, Lady Anne Manners [2], sixth daughter of John Manners, 8th Earl of Rutland, by whom he had one son, John Scrope, who died young, and two daughters, Annabella and Margaret.
He married 2ly in 1698, the Hon Juliana Alington, daughter of William, 1st Baron Alington, of Wymondley, by whom he had four children.

He died on 16 January 1713 and was buried at Langar, Nottinghamshire. [3]
