James was born in 1856. He is the son of William Howe and Sarah Stevens. In 1870 he was living in Darien attending school with his brothers Charles and William.
The last record I have for him is the settling of the guardianship accounts. One researcher suggests that he moved to California as indicated in city directories but I can find no trace of him there.
