Samuel Howe was born 25 Aug 1799 in Hollis, New Hampshire, the youngest son of Ephraim and Mary Howe.[1][2] In 1827, he was listed as a seaman at the Port of New York.[3] He later moved to Indiana and married Eleanor Gunion in Noblesville, Hamilton, Indiana 23 Nov 1836.[4] They had at least 13 children.[5][6] He died 12 Oct 1871. His tombstone lists him as age 72 years, 1 month, 17 days, which matches his birthday of 25 Aug 1799.[7]
