James Howe was born in Belleville, Hastings, Canada West on 1 April 1856. He was a son of English immigrants, James Howe and Mary Elizabeth Beswick.
Jim married Eliza Jane Garrison on 14 November 1881 at Napanee, Lennox and Addington, Ontario.[1] They had about eight children. Eliza died in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1908.
Jim married a second time, to Frances Smith McKinstry, about 1910. They had about six children. Frances died in Clavet, Saskatchewan in 1925.
Jim died in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on 11 May 1950. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.[2]
