Born in Townshend, Vermont 11 Oct 1804.[1] Married Almira Jones or Howard, born in 1814 (see Notes below). He died 2 Sep 1880. She died 6 feb 1887. They lived in Jamaica, where he was a farmer. They had 13 Children.[2]

Research Notes

There is a real question as to the last name at birth of Junia Howe's wife Almira or Lomira. The Howe Genealogies list his wife as Almira Jones, daughter of Isaac Jones, born 15 Nov 1814. Other sources, including vital records of his children, list her last name as Howard. I found an Almira Jones, the daughter of Isaac Jones, born in 1814 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. This Almira Jones then married a Jerry Howe in Jamaica, Vermont. Could Jerry and Junia Howe be the same person? Apparently not, since each family has different children. The Howe Genealogies researchers apparently associated the wrong Almira with Junia Howe. Jerry appears to be the son of Caleb and Anna (Wellman) Howe of Jamaica and grandson of Peter Howe, none of whom appear in the published Howe Genealogies. I have not been able to determine Almira Howard's parents. More research is needed. (Notes by Howe-3137 16:36, 16 June 2020 (UTC))

Sources disagree on the birth place of Junia Howe. The cited birth record card is stamped Townshend, Vermont. The Howe Geneaologies and separate death records say he was born in jamaica, Vermont. We give the birth record preference, but Junia's father's family lived in Jamaica and his younger siblings were born in Jamaica. There is a reasonable doubt.
