Biography

Killed while assisting at a pole raising during a political campaign in Johnsonburg. One of the props gave way and the pole fell, striking him on the head, crushing his skull and killing him instantaneously. Fifty years later, his son Theodore, a fireman at the Oxford Furnace, was killed after a four pound drill got away from the men at the top of a scaffold above him, rolling across the platform and dropping through a crevice, with the heavy iron then piercing his skull and dislocating his neck, producing instant death. ^[1]
