Biography

The 1910 census indicates that she is married, but no husband is in the household.

She is not found in the 1920 census. Obit from fFind a Grave

Word was received here last Saturday of the death in St. Louis very suddenly that morning of Mrs. Ella McCutchen, mother of Dr. J.H. McCutchen, of this city, who had been a resident here herself up to the first of that week. Her death occurred at the home of a niece, Mrs. T.J. Lovell, 5511-A Vernon avenue, about four o'clock, an autopsy showing it to have been caused by heart trouble, although she never had been troubled in this manner so far as known to members of the family.

Mrs. McCutchen had lived here for the past three or four years and had recently sold her home and left last Monday night for St. Louis, where she expected to take an interest in a drug store with her son, Herman, a registered pharmacist. At the time of leaving, her son, Jack, states that she seemed to be in the best of health and spirits and even up to the day before her death there seemed nothing whatever wrong, according to the statement of her niece, Mrs. Lovell. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the Peetz undertaking establishment, 2737 LaFayette avenue, St. Louis, and interment was in Bellefontaine cemetery. Four sons and a daughter were present for the funeral, as follows: Dr. Jack McCutchen, of this city; Dr. Paul McCutchen, Steele, Mo., Herman and Lex McCutchen, of St. Louis, and Mrs. H.C. Wilson, of Little Rock, Ark. A fifth son, Jas. E. McCutchen, who recently had gone to Nashville, Tenn., where he is employed as a postal clerk could not be notified in time for the funeral, for the reason that his address was unknown to the others of the family. Mrs. McCutchen was almost sixty years of age. She had many friends in this city who doubtless were greatly surprised and shocked to learn of her untimely passing.
