Biography

William's birth was registered in 1861. He was the son of William Howell and Elizabeth Denton^[1].

He married 12. 4.1880 (Upper Swan) Emily Grover Hadrill(1858-1925) b. 4/5.6.1858 d. 31.12.1925, daughter of Hannah Haddrill (nee Grover)^[2].

He was born at Guildford 74 years ago, being occupied as builder and contractor, blacksmith and wheelwright, and was the first undertaker for Guildford and district in the pioneering days. He lived all his life in Guildford and the Swan, the gathering at the graveside showing the esteem and respect in which he was held by those with whom he was associated. ^[3].

He had four sons and gave then all the middle name "Norman" as was also his middle name.

HOWELL.—On May 27, 1935, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Jarvey, West Swan, William Norman Howell, beloved husband of the late Emily Howell, and loving father of Norman (Geraldton), Lily (Mrs. H. G. Jarvey, Henley Park), Edith (Mrs. R. Willmott, West Midland), Rose H. Rickard (West Midland), Ruby (Mrs. G. Keene, South Perth), Burt (Guildford), Raven (Midland Junction), Esme (Mrs. B. Bassett, Henley Park); grandfather of 44 children, and great grandfather of 15 children; aged 74 years.^[4]

FUNERAL NOTICE. HOWELL.—The Friends of the late Mr. William Norman Howell. late of Henley Park, West Swan, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the place of interment, the West Swan Church Cemetery. The Funeral is appointed to leave the Private Mortuary of W. Snell, Undertaker, Midland Junction, at 2.30 o'clock THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON, arriving at the Cemetery at 3.15 o'clock^[4].
