He was born at Guildford 74 years ago, being occupied as builder and contractor, blacksmith and wheelwright, and was the first undertaker for Guildford and district in the pioneering days. He lived all his life in Guildford and the Swan, the gathering at the graveside showing the esteem and respect in which he was held by those with whom he was associated. [3].
He had four sons and gave then all the middle name "Norman" as was also his middle name.
