Biography
Arthur Howard Eckford Howell was born in Cromer, Norfolk on 17 September 1902. He was the son of Ernest Howell, and his wife Lilian Lucy. [1]

Arthur married Beryl Stuart Bowater, daughter of Sir Frank Henry Bowater at St Margaret's Westminster on 9 April 1931. The marriage witnesses were Beryl's father, Arthur's mother Lilian Howell, Sir William Phene Neal, who was Lord Mayor of London at the time, and Sir Thomas Vansittart Bowater, who was Beryl's uncle, and M.P. for the City of London. Arthur gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery [4]
He passed away on 9 February 1980 at Sharnden Manor, Mayfield, Sussex. Probate was granted on 2 June, his estate was valued at £4,351 [5]
