Biography

Parentage

Zebulon Howland may have been tied to the baptism record in Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. It says he was baptized on 6 May 1759 in Pembroke, Massachusetts, and was the son of Zebulon Howland and Lydia Cushing.

Zebulon Howland was not recorded in the book of the author, Franklyn Howland, in 1885. Franklyn did not come to write any further biography on Zebulon or his father, Zebulon, in his book on page 86, but he added Zebulon's father, Zebulon, in the appendix in his book on page 427, but he did not list Zebulon as the son of Zebulon Howland.

Census

In 1800, Zebulon Howland was enumerated as the head of the household and lived in Bristol, Lincoln County, Maine. Also, in his household were ten members, as follows:[1]

  • one free white male, age under 10
  • two free white males, age 10 thru 15
  • two free white males, age 16 thru 25
  • one free white male, age 45 and over (himself, Zebulon Howland, before 1755)
  • one free white female, age 10 thru 15 (his daughter, Margaret Howland, born between 1785 and 1790)
  • two free white females, age 16 thru 25 (his two daughters, Ruth Howland and Sarah Howland, born between 1775 and 1784)
  • one free white female, age 45 and over (his wife, born before 1755)

In 1810, Zebulon Howland was enumerated as the head of the household and lived in Bristol, Lincoln County, Maine. Also, in his household were seven members, as follows:

  • one free white male, age 10 thru 15
  • two free white males, age 16 thru 25
  • one free white male, age 45 and over (himself, Zebulon Howland, born before 1765)
  • two free white females, age 16 thru 25 (his daughter, Margaret Howland, born between 1785 and 1794)
  • one free white female, age 45 and over (his wife, born before 1765)
