Mercy (or Mary) was born on Jan 27, 1704 in Bristol, R.I. to Jabez Howland & Patience Stafford.[1]
Mercy Howland was widowed young, perhaps even before Comfort was born. While the exact date of George Pearce's death is unknown, Mercy was married secondly at St. Michael's Episcopal Church of Bristol on July 9 1724 to Isaac Martindale of Newport, probably the son of Isaac and Godsgift (Arnold) Martindale.
Isaac, a mariner, and Mercy were living at Newport, presumably with Comfort, in the 1730s. The precise dates of death for Isaac and Mercy have not been established.
