Biography

This profile is part of the Howland Name Study.

Content, the third known daughter of Mary and Samuel Howland (abt.1638-1716) of Duxbury, Massachusetts, was born about 1673 in Massachusetts.^[1][2] Her father died in 1716 at Duxbury. She married John Sanford aboutt 1698^[3][4] and brought forth eight known children between 1699 and 1711: John (1699-aft.1768); Abigail (1701-1773), Joshua (1702-), Mercy (1704-), Mary (1705-1789), Ruth (1707-1753), Content (abt.1708-1814), and Elizabeth (Sanford) Clarke (1711-).^[1][5] All the children are thought to have been born in Little Compton.

When she died and where she was buried are unknown.
