DISPROVEN:
In past, some genealogists thought that Desire Howland was the daughter of Samuel Howland and Abigail Moon; however, it has presented a problem with the unknown identity of her father who was not recorded on the record of her birth.
Desire Howland was the daughter of Abigail Howland, widow, and she was born on 10 June 1753 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island, but the identity of her father was not recorded.[1]
Her mother, Mrs. Abigail Howland, widow of the unknown decedent, may not be identical to Mrs. Abigial (Moon) Howland, widow of Samuel Howland who was missing at sea since 1748 and presumed to be dead sometime after 1748 because his wife waited too long for him upon his return home from the sea for five years.
The identity of her father remains unknown.
There is no further mention of Desire Howland in any records after her younger brother, John Howland's birth in 1757. What became of her remains unknown.
