Winifred Eliza Sluman Hoyle was born on 21 Jan 1869 in King Williamstown, Cape Province, South Africa to John Hoyle, a farrier, and Emma Sluman (Hardy) Hoyle - she was baptised on 7 Mar 1869 in King Williamstown.^[1]

Winifred married James Geary Power in East London, Cape Province in or before 1899.

Winifred and James had two children:

1. Arthur James Power (1899-1963)
2. Kathleen Winifred (Power) Powell (1907-1989)
