James Hubbard was born about 1743. He is listed on the farm book records of Thomas Jefferson as working at Bedford and Bear Creek.[1] (Farm Book p.15, 129, 131)
James Hubbard [Sr.] was an enslaved foreman of farm labor at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest plantation.[2] He and his wife, Cate (b. 1747) had the following nine children:
