Alfred Edward Hubbard was born in 1847 in St Martin Vintry, London, Middlesex, England to Joseph John Hubbard and Mercy (Garnham) Hubbard. His birth was registered in London City in the second quarter of the year.[1]
In 1851 Alfred Hubbard (age 3) lived at Grove Hill Terrace in St Giles Camberwell, Surrey with his father Joseph J (49, Solicitor), mother Mercy (44), and ten siblings: Susanna (21), Isabella (20), Joseph (18, Articled Clerk), Elizabeth (15), Penelope (13), Louisa (10), Thomas (8), David (7), Alice (5), and Emma (2), as well as three servants: Mary Sellar (23), Martha Sellar (22), and Jane Drudge (20).[2]
In 1861 Alfred "Halbard" (age 13, Scholar) lived at Clapton East Side, St John Hackney, London with his father Joseph J (59), mother "Mary" (54), and eight siblings: Isabella (30), Elizabeth (2[25]), Penelope (22), Louisa (21), Thomas (18, Scholar), David (16, Scholar), Alice (15, Scholar), and Emma (12, Scholar), as well as two servants: Susannah Seuner (20, Housemaid) and Emma Edwards (23, Cook).[3]
In 1871 Alfred E Hubbard (age 23) lived in Hackney, London in the household of his brother David J (27, Solicitor), along with seven other siblings: Isabelle G (40), Elizabeth D (35), Penelope (33), Louisa (31), Thomas W (28, Banker Clerk), Alice S (25), and Emma (22).[4]
Alfred Edward Hubbard married the widow Mary Fundary Vassar in 1877. The marriage was registered in Strand, London in the second quarter of the year.[5]
In 1881 Alfred E Hubbard (age 34, Retired Accountant) lived in Kneesworth, Cambridgeshire with his wife Mary (38) and servant Susan Thomas (20).[6]
In 1891 Alfred E Hubbard (age 45, Living on Own Means) lived at Wheathill Road in Penge, Surrey with his wife Mary F (49) and servant Anna Burch (22).[7]
In 1901 Alfred E Hubbard (age 53, Living on Own Means) lived at Wheathill Road in Penge with his wife Mary T (59) and servant Eva Clark (18).[8]
In 1911 Alfred Edward Hubbard (age 64, Private Means) lived in Penge with his wife Mary Fundry (70) and servant Lena Annie Barry (19).[9]
Alfred passed away on 6 Jun 1918: "HUBBARD Alfred Edward of 37 Wheathill-road Amerley Surrey died 6 June 1918 Probate London 19 December to Flora Barfoot spinster. Effects £3099 6s 1d."[11] His death was registered in Croyden, Surrey in the second quarter of the year.[12] He was buried at West Norwood Cemetery and Crematorium in Lambeth, London.[13]
