Biography

Richard Hubbard immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Richard was a son of William Hubbard and Judith (Knapp) Hubbard, born about 1631 in England.

The family emigrated to New England in 1635, aboard the Defence. They were enrolled for passage in London on 18 July 1635. Richard Hubbard was recorded as age 4.[1] They settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts.

Richard graduated from Harvard College in the class of 1653. [2]

He married Sarah Bradstreet, daughter of Governor Simon Bradstreet.[3]

He died on 3 May 1681. He did not leave a will.[3] Judge Sewell recorded his death as 2 May [1680-1], "Mr. Richard Hubbard of Ipswich Farms, dyeth suddainly in the afternoon, goeing to ly on's Bed after diner was there found dead by his daughter accidentally goeing in thother. – Judge Sewall." [4]
