Catherine was born in 1732. She married twice and died in 1814. Both last names Bauer\Bower and Huber\Hoover have two different spelling.

The 1767 Petition of Michael Brecht and Catharine his wife, admx of Conrad Bauer deceased, setting forth "That the said Conrad Bauer died Intestate seized and possessed of a considerable real and personal estate and leaving issue, seven children six of whom to wit: Jacob, George, Henry, Barbara, Susanna and Eve, are each under the age of fourteen years and praying the court to take care of the persons and estates of the said Minor Children" was read and the Court appointed: Henry Christ Esquire, William Reeser, and Peter Fedler all of the Town of reading, Guardians of the persons and Estates of the six Minor children afore named.

"The father of General Bower and the ancestor of this prominent family of Pennsylvania was Conrad Bower, a pioneer settler of Reading, who became one of the city's largest property holders. He married Catharine Hoover. After the death of Conrad Bower in 1765, in the following year, his widow became the second wife of Michael Bright, a man of substance, and she died in 1814."
