Biography

Posted on Findagrave.com: Robert J. "Robin" Huber, 86, of Springfield, died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Oak Terrace Health Care in Springfield. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral services will follow at noon with Fr. Barry Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton with full military rites by Jasper County veterans. Mr. Huber was born on May 11, 1919 in Teutopolis, the son of Joseph Andrew and Barbara Rose (Rohr) Huber. He was united in marriage to Catherine "Kay" Rohr on August 13, 1949. She preceded him in death on October 28, 2004. He retired from Springfield Public Works Department in 1982. He served his country in World War II in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Catherine Drexel Parish, Knights of Columbus # 364 and American Legion Post # 32 of Springfield. Mr. Huber is survived by two sisters, Irene Carberry of California and Gertrude Selby of Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Susan Magnani of Springfield and Lola Rohr of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, three sisters and one half-sister. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Home in Springfield.
