Marian G. Huber was born March 1925 in Freeman, Hutchinson County, South Dakota. Her parents were Jacob M. and Anna Bisbing Huber. She had one brother and three sisters.
She attended Freeman Public School where she was very active in sports, music, band and drama, and graduated in 1943. She then entered Eastern State College, Madison, S.D., and earned her bachelor of science degree.
Marian enlisted in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) in 1953.
She served as an Army Instructor or Administration Specialist at five different Army posts in the USA; in Heidelberg, Germany (1955-1957); and in Frankfort and Stuttgart, Germany (1960-62).
Marion was a platoon sergeant with Company C, WAC Training Battalion in Ft. Lee, Virginia, then moved to Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Marian was able to excel in many individual and team sports open to the WACS.
She retired in 1973 after twenty years of military service, holding the rank of Master Sergeant,
Then she went into a dog grooming business in Farmingdale, New Jersey, with a friend. In September of 1979, she moved back to Freeman, South Dakota.
Marian G. Huber passed away in Mar 2018 while residing at the Tieszen Memorial Nursing Home, Marion, South Dakota. She was 93 years old.
