Biography

Jean Hebert, son of Étienne Hébert and Marie Gaudet, was born around 1659[1], probably in Port-Royal.

Jean was listed in the first Acadian census of 1671 in Port-Royal at age 13.[2]

In 1686. at Port Royal, Jean HEBERT, aged 27, was living alone and still single.[3]

Jean (32) married Jeanne Doiron (15) (born about 1676 in Pisiquit, Acadie, Nouvelle-France; daughter of Jean Doiron and Marie-Anne Canol) in 1692 in Acadie.[1] Their known children were:

  1. Charles Hebert (abt. 1693–1761) .
  2. Michel Hebert (abt. 1694–1751) .
  3. Marie Hebert (abt. 1697–1764) .
  4. Jean Hebert (1699–1773) .
  5. Jeanne (Hebert) Hébert (abt. 1700– ) .
  6. Catherine Josèphe Hébert (bef. 1701– ) .
  7. Cécile Hébert (abt. 1703–1763) .
  8. Claire Hebert (abt. 1704–1758) .
  9. Etienne Hebert (1710–bef. 1761) .
  10. Paul Hebert (1715– ) .
  11. Joseph Hebert (abt. 1715–bef. 1765) .
  12. Marguerite Hébert (abt. 1716–abt. 1761) .
  13. Anne Hébert (abt. 1718– )

The next year, in the 1693 census, they were listed as living in Les Mines with their 18-month-old Charles.[4] Their growing family was enumerated again at Les Mines in 1701[5] and 1707[6] Before 1714 they settled in Pisiguit.[7]

Jean died in 1744. [8]
