Last Will and Testement
Proven 19 June 1795
In the Name of God amen I James Hudders of East Nottingham Township, Chester
County & State of Pennsylvania considering the uncertainity of this mortal life, and being of
sound mind & memory blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make & publish this my last
will & testament in manner & form following (that is to say) First I give & bequesth unto my be=
loved wife, Margaret Hudders the sum of fifty pounds with one bed & bed clothes with what
other furniture she brought to my house when I Married her, also two cows Which are to be
pastured & foddered for her, she also to have her living & support in my house, unless it becomes
more agreeable to part, in which case a convenient house shall be provided for her with gar
-den & fire wood [?] at the door sufficient for her use, also to have ten bushels of wheat &
the same of corn laid into her yearly during natural life, (but if she marries then the house & yearly
substance to be void & monies paid), if a seperate house is built for her
she it to have the benefit of it only while she lives there in, the above I give in lieu of her Dower.
I do also give & Bequeath unto my son John Hudders the sum of five pounds, I also give &
Bequeath unto my son in law Archibald McKissack the sum of five pounds, I also give
Bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Thomspon the sum of five pounds, I also give & Bequeath unto my son
James Hudders the sum of five pounds. I also give & Bequeath unto my daughter Jannet
Turner the sum of five pounds, I also give and Bequeath unto my daughter Rachel
Hood the sum of five pounds, which of several legacies or sums of money I will & order
shall be paid to the respective legatees written two years after my Decease, I also give &
Bequesth to my son Nathaniel Hudders the old gray mare & her colt also the cart & oxen
I now wor?, with other six head of cattle large & small, with all the grain in the barn, sheeves& crib
& in the ground, also all my Farming intentials & implements of husbandry of every Discription
also my Desk, & all other my household furniture.------------
I ______ & Devise unto my said son Nathaniel Hudders his heirs & assigns two hundered
acres with allowance, of the land I now live on Begining on the line between James Fulton &
me, thence along said line to the corner by the big road, then along said Division line by said-
s'd. Road to Robert Corry's corner, from thence A straight course unto Alexander Crowles-
Seth, & James Wilson's corner thence by the Difference courses & Distance of my said tract north
westward until so far as with a Direct course to the begining line the s'd two hundred
Acres will be inclose with the alowance, with all the improvements, appurtenances & Priviledges
there unto belonging, to hold to him the s'd Nathaniel Hudders his heirs & assigns forever--
I also give & Devise unto my son James Hudders two Daughters Lettice & Mary all my land s'd
James Hudders now lives on Situate in Oxford township County & state aforesaid to hold-
to them the s'd Lettice & Mary their heir & assigns forever to be Equally divided between
them, Only my son James Hudders to have the use of it during his Natural life if he
lives there on, if not, then the profits of it to go to use of his s'd Daughters , I also give &
Bequeath unto my son John Hudders nine Children the sum of five pounds each, I also give &
Bequeath unto my son James Hudders two Daughters the sum of five pounds each, which s'd
several legacies or sums of money I will & order shall be unto the s'd respective legatees
with in three years after my decease, And as for the remainder of my land my
son Nathaniel Huders shall have it at thirty shillings- per acre if he chooses to take
it, if not, then shall be sold at public sale to the highest bider by my Executiors, as also
all of my goods and chattles that are arising from s'd sales--
shall be added to my other money, then after all the above ::legaceis & lawfull debts & fune=
ral expences are payed off, the Remainder to be Equally Divided amongst the children
of my Daughters, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth Jannet & Rachel, which s'd several legacies
or sums of money I will & order shall be paid to the s'd respective legatees with in four years
after my Decease.
