Biography
Hamilton Morris was born in Cedar Grove, West Virginia on November 25, 1857 to Job and Elizabeth McCoy Huddleston. He was one of the couple's known 14 children.
He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. When he was young, he worked at the canal locks near his home. However as he got older, he worked as a carpenter and a blacksmith. He married Lyda Mae Chapman on May 11, 1884 in Charleston, West Virginia. The couple had eleven children: John (b. 1886), Libbie (b. 1889), Effie (b. 1890), Bert (b. 1892), Bertie (b. 1893), Bertha (b. 1894), Esther (b. 1895), Ruby (b. 1900), Gladys (b. 1902), John (b. 1904), and Elizabeth (b. 1907).
Hamilton died in Pratt, West Virginia on March 25, 1935 at the age of 77. He is buried in Pratt Cemetery.
