Airmen who perished on B-26 #40-1468:

Daley, John F, Jr ~ 1st Lt, Navigator, MA Huddleston, Vernon D ~ Corp, Gunner, OH Jander, Philip L ~ 1st Lt, Bombardier, TX Johnson, Milton O ~ 1st Lt, Pilot, NE Morgan, Thomas A ~ Sgt, Radio Operator, AR Smith, William C ~ S/Sgt, Engineer, MO Werner, Lawrence I ~ 1st Lt, Co-Pilot, CA

It was report on the MACR for this flight that 4 of the crew members were reportedly picked up by a Japanese ship. However there is no report of any of them being a POW of the Japanese. That is why it took so long for the Military to officially declare them as dead. They wanted to insure that none of them were reported, after the war, as POW's.
