Biography

Anthony W. was born about 1790 in Kanawha county, West Virginia. His middle name was probably William, named for his grandfathers Anthony Pate & William Huddleston.
He was the son of Henry Huddleston and Martha Pate.

Henry had moved his family from Bedford County, Va to Kanawha county sometime between 1785-1793 with his father, William, and some of his brothers.
Sometime before 1804 (maybe as early as 1794) Henry and his brother Abraham moved their families to Smith County, TN (maybe together or maybe one followed the other). Henry raised his family on Defeated Creek there. (Today this creek runs beside Defeated Creek Hwy & Difficult Road about 40 miles east of Nashville just north of Carthage.) Wilson County is on the west side of Smith County.

Anthony married Elizabeth Lewis, Aug 15, 1814, Wilson Co, TN
They had 7 children (see below).

In 1816 & 1817 his son Pinkney and daug Harriet were supposedly born in Tennessee.
In 1823, son, Marshall was born in Wilson Co, TN.
In 1824, son, Luke was born in Ark, probably Lawrence Co.
In 1826, daug., Delitha was born in Ark. (from 1850 census)
In 1828-30? son, Burrell was born in Ark. (not on 1830 census, but married in 1846)

1830 Arkansas census shows Anthony with 3 sons and 4 daughters (maybe Lawrence co).

Did Anthony & Elizabeth get divorced?
Looks like he married Mrs. Sarah Keith in 1838 in St. Francois Co, Mo.
St. Francois Co, Mo. Marriage Books:
Mr. Anthony Huddleston and Mrs. Sarah Keith;
married on 28 October 1838 by William Evans, JP at St. Francois Co., Mo.

Then Anthony died in Apr. 1839, prob. in St. Francois Co, MO (age 49-51). Son, Pinkney was adminstrator to Anthony's estate. His heirs were listed as Sarah (widow), Pinkney, Burwell, Luke & Martha Huddleston. Also listed are grandchildren Henry and Martha Huddleston (children of Jesse & Harriet Huddleston and heirs of Anthony). [1] Harriet had died by then.

He may have lived for a short time at least near the Huddleston relatives in Thomasville, Oregon Co, Mo. (where his uncle Abraham and family lived)
His son Pinkney married there in 1842 (was Ripley Co at the time)
His daughters, Delitha and Harriett (m.1835), both married Huddleston relatives and lived in Oregon Co, Mo.

In a letter by Anthony's sister, Unity's husband, Burrell T. Wright, to Anthony's brother, Miles W. Huddleston, Burrell writes:
"Oregon Co., Mo. May 30, 1858 - Dear Brother," . . . Burrell states that he had settled in Oregon Co., Mo 5 1/2 miles south of Thomasville. "We live in the Huddleston settlement.... Two of Anthony's grandchildren live here," [probably Harriett's] "two of his children live in Washington Co., Mo . . ." [Pinkney and Luke].

In 1860 (1st?) wife Elizabeth was living beside son Marshall Woodson Huddleston:

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Anthony by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Anthony:
