Biography

James was born in 1785. He passed away in 1865.

"Judge" James Hudgins, pioneer resident of this section, was the father of eight sons and two daughters:

(1) Elnathan Davis Hudgins, eldest child, born 1812 in Habersham Co., GA, and died Dec 1891.

(2) Benjamin Hudgins, who lived at Calhoun, Gordon Co., GA

(3) Philip Hudgins, Talladega Co., AL

(4) Tarlton Lewis Hudgins, Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL

(5) John Hudgins, of Arkansas

(6) James Hudgins, of Arkansas

(7) William Hudgins, of Texas

(8) Posey Hudgins, of Texas

(9) Ruth Hudgins, (named after his mother Rutha Davis Hudgins). Ruth married William Robertson of Fairmount, Gordon Co., GA.

(10) Mary Hudgins, first wife of John Henry Dodd (and her niece was his second wife.)
