Biography
Main source is Debra Anise I'm his daughter. I relayed information, as both an eyewitness to his life, and the recipient of his and mom's stories about his life and family.
William Josiah Hudnall was born in Diehlstadt, Scott County, Missouri to Alward Azer and Emma Laura (Carter) Hudnall on May 7th, 1918. When he was 18 years old he decided that he did not like the name Josiah and decided to change his middle name to Joseph.
He married three times: His first marriage was to Mary Ethel Agent on 19 Aug 1939. They had two children: William Boyed Hudnall and Mary Jo Hudnall. According to "Joe", there was no work to be had in his home state and he had to go further north to find work. He opened a boarding house and restaurant, in Chicago, Illinois, with the money he made from singing in fancy drinking establishments and doing some underground boxing. Soon after this, his first wife decided that she did not enjoy city life and did not like to live far from her mother, and they separated.
His second wife, Mae Gooch, gave him one child: William Dennis Hudnall. They separated when Denny was born. He handed his businesses to his wife for the support of their child and left for Detroit, Michigan. Shortly after, they divorced and she married her fiance, Willie Rigsby.
His third wife was, Ethel Harville. They had four children: Dessie Lucille, Richard Brett, William Joseph, Jr, and Debra Anise. He passed away from lung cancer at the age of 87, in the Assisted Living Facility annexed to Kern Valley Hospital, on July 12, 2005.
