Chancery Court Action Against Sarah Hudson, Administratrix of Reuben Hudson's Estate:
In 1811, Lucy Hudson, through her Guardian Micajah Cambden, filed a Chancery Court Action in Amherst County, Virginia against her mother Sarah Hudson as Administratrix of the Estate of Reuben Hudson, recently deceased, joining as necessary parties her brother and sisters (named above) who were minors at the time. The Petition requested an order of sale of the Estate assets consisting of a significant amount of land, Negros, and personal property. The Court later entered an order of sale and division with each child receiving, after deduction of Lucy's right of dower, L42.17.2 for sale land and L44.8.7 for sale of enslaved persons (including Daniel, Nancy and Virgin). The case file also contains a survey of the property of Reuben Hudson.. [2]
