Research Notes
Based on the above will, if it is for this John P. Hudson, the middle name of Joice was Elizabeth, which was used by the family or he married a third time. At this point this is speculative. BJS
Birth place is unsourced. Birth date is most likely an estimated date. The birth year does fit in with the ages that appear in the censuses found.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
There are two possible sources for the birth location of John Peter Hudson in South Carolina. 1. The 1777 Oath of Allegiance for Pittsylvania County Virginia List compiled by Captain William Witcher, John's future father-in-law, shows "John P. Hudson from S. Carolina." Note there are at least two transcriptions of signatories to the Oath of Allegiance for Pittsylvania; One is mere a listing of names. The other shows more detail, including the reference to John P Hudson's origin. 2. Another source is the death record for Drury Hudson (1814-1876), the son of John and Elizabeth Hudson, recorded in Green Co., KY which states that Drury's father John was born in "S. Carolina" and his mother Elizabeth was born in Virginia.
