George Ernest Hudson was born in Sydney, NSW, on the 28th of November, 1862 (registered in 1863).[1][2] He was the son of John Payne Hudson and Jane Taylor.
George Ernest Hudson was a high level public servant who served in the New South Wales Customs Service from 1891, then transferred to the Commonwealth public service at Federation. He was the Chairman of the Tariff Board from 1923.[2] He was made a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George on the 1st of January, 1926.[3]
George married Elizabeth Handley Morison at Oakville, Moonbie-street, Summer Hill, NSW, on the 7th of May, 1889.[4][5] They had four children together: Evelyn R (Edwards), Elizabeth (Savage), Herbert George, and Raymond Handley.[2]
He died at his home "Cambewarra" in Wattletree Rd, East Malvern, Victoria, on the 13th of Novmber, 1926,[6] and was buried in the Brighton general cemetery.[7]
