I am a relatively new amateur archivist and I am thrilled to find WikiTree. I am a huge fan of all things open source so I am in complete agreement with the mission and Honor Code of this wiki. The 9 rules define the way I try to conduct myself in all online activity. I am an old hand with computes and collaborative efforts so perhaps I can be of use to this community even with my meager archival skills.

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. That's awesome. Our GEDCOM process is a bit different than what might be used to on other sites. We have some great help pages to make your experience go more smoothly:

* Uploading vs. importing * What is GEDCompare? * Before importing a GEDCOM * After importing a GEDCOM

If you have any questions about your GEDCOM or our process, you can contact our GEDCOM Manager for assistance.

Thanks!

Hi Timothy,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message here on your profile about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.

Marlene
