Gravesite Details According to Aquebogue Cemetery notes, there were buried without stones 200 from 1755 - 1858 with only a hillock or mound or a few pebbles to mark the grave. "
from Shelter Island pg 42:
" 3. SAMUEL HUDSON, the second of the first two Assessors of our Town, was the son of Jonathan and Sarah Hudson. His parents came from Lyme, Conn., to Shelter Island. Samuel Hudson married Grissel L'Hommedieu, daughter of Benjamin and Patience L'Hommedieu, and granddaughter of the original settler of this island, Mr. Nathaniel Sylvester. Mr. Hudson served as County Clerk of Suffolk County from 1722 to 1730, and in 1746, with his brother Jonathan, joined Capt. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:
Historical Papers on Shelter Island and Its Presbyterian Church Rev. Jacob E. Mallmann 1899; AM Bustard Co NY agrees that Sylvester, Susannah and John are Grissell's siblings not her children.
I will be making the change soon, including the change to lnab, if no one objects.
Sylvester, Susannah and John have birthdates too early to allow them to be Sam & Grissell's kids. There is at least one not necessarily reliable online source (Geni) that states Grissell had siblings Sylvester b. 1703, Susannah b. 1704 and John b. 1707.
Susannah is shown there as having married Jonathan Tuthill, b c1691, in Oysterponds, son of Henry. This much is confirmed by Tuttle and Tuthill Lines in America; Compiled by Alva M Tuttle Published in 1968 by the Compiler.
I haven't yet found anything about Sarah who has no dob showing.
Anybody have anything more?

I am editing it to represent a different individual with the same name, which explains why the Changes page may look a little strange.
