She was the daughter of Mary and Commander Edward Charles Hudson, R.N., of Carlisle, Cumberland.
In the 1841 British Census she was aged 20 and lived with her mother, two sisters and two servants, in George Street, Wigton, Cumberland.
In the 1851 British Census she was a Fund Holder (aged 30) and lived with her mother, sister and a servant, in Cross Mead, Dunsford Road, Exeter, Devonshire.
In the 1861 British Census she was a Fund Holder (aged 40) and lived with her mother, married sister, and a servant, in Cross Mead, Dunsford Road, Exeter.
In 1863 she married John Medley, D.D., Bishop of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, later Metropolitan Bishop of Canada, a widower with five children. They had no children. He died in 1892.
She died on 26 February 1905, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
