ZUMWALT, Evelyn (Hudson) – Age 88, passed away Sunday, August 31, 1997 in Enumclaw, Washington. She was born August 26, 1909 in Alma New Mexico, the eldest of eight children. On March 19, 1926, she was united in marriage to James L. Zumwalt. They moved to Oregon in 1939, settling in the Canyonville area. She was an avid homemaker, gardener and Dodge fan. Survivors include her daughter, Laurel Barsalou of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three sons, Clyde Zumwalt of Allyn, Washington, Jimmy Zumwalt of Buckley, Washington and Jerry Zumwalt of Winchester, Oregon; two sisters, Norma (Hudson) Barry of Silver City, New Mexico and Nell (Hudson) Thurston of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two brothers Willis Hudson of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Clayton Hudson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 24 grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Zumwalt; a granddaughter, Vicki Holder, her parents, Archie and Laeuna Hudson and three sisters, Elizabeth (Hudson) Jones, Margaret (Hudson) Self and Mildred (Hudson) Holmes. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, September 13, 1997 at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Pastor Billy Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Canyonville, Oregon.
