Hougham Hudson was a member of Dyason's Party of 1820 Settlers on the 'Zoroaster'. On the Full List his group consists of Hougham Hudson, Farmer, b. 1794; spouse Elizabeth b. 1797. On other lists his wife's name is given as Elizabeth Ann Walker. His ten-year-old brother William appears on the London List, but not on the Agent's Return. The Party consisted of the Dyason brothers - George, Isaac, Robert and Joseph - Samuel Bennett and Hougham Hudson as six equal partners. There were fourteen indentured labourers. After reaching Simon's Bay on 30 April 1820 the Party was transferred to the 'Brilliant' for the voyage to Algoa Bay.
At one stage he was the Landdrost's clerk at Grahamstown, and later Landdrost at Port Elizabeth.
