Wife Katie in 1910 is living back at home with her parents and one child, suggesting that Ben was dead by this time.
There are mentions of him (probably him!) in the Abbeville Meriodonial, as follows: "The popular Ben Hudson of Abbeville dropped in here last Wednesday and was the guest of ye writer till Thursday morning. We were glad to see him, and we look for his coming again in July days." (May 1895)

A Ben Hudson is mentioned in the New Iberia Enterprise, 22 April 1899. He was "summoned to the deathbed of his uncle Mr. J. C. Mahone, owner of Southbend Plantations, who died Friday last at his place near Bayou Sale, St. Mary Parish."
