Dear husband, this evening gives me the pleasure of writing you a few lines to inform you that we are all well, hoping that when this comes to hand that it may find you well likewise.
I have received two letters from you since Henderson left, and I ought to have answered them sooner.
I have nothing strange to write, hands are hard to get, but I have managed to get that field planted in corn.
Levi Hylton, Riley H. Hylton, Nathan Hylton and A. J. Jones helped me to put in my corn.
I could not get Ferdinand and Isaac Radford, except Isaac who helped a little about 3 hours I suppose, it will be a bad chance to get them to help, for they have undertaken as much as they can do.
It will be a bad chance to get any one, for hands are scarce.
I will do all I can towards tending it myself.
I expect that the old man Hylton and the boys will help all they can.
Your wheat looks very well I think for old ground.
I want you if you can get to come home to come at harvest time.
I sent the things that you sent for by Samuel Harter and perhaps you may get this letter, before you get them.
Riley H. Hylton wants to know how your shoes suited you.
We call the baby Rozina Emaline.
Ananias Wade is dead and was buried yesterday.
Samuel Weddle has lost 3 of his sons and two others are sick.
I received the forty dollars you sent, and I have not spent any of it yet.
I took twenty dollars this morning to you father for him to get small change from someone to pay for carding and to get some bail cotton, and some salt.
Nathan let me have 8 pounds wool and I have got on bunch of cotton, nothing more at this time but please write me an answer when this comes to hand.
Yours truely till death
