Tobias Lord and Henry Clark of Arundel had a judgment against Thomas Huff of Arundel, blacksmith, for $170.93 damages and $7.79 costs on 20 Sept. 1814. His house on the land of William Barters was appraised for $150.00 on 1 Nov. 1814. [2]
On 23 Jan. 1835 Thomas Huff of Kennebunkport sold to Jethro W. Smith of Kennebunkport, mariner, for $150.00, 1 acre in Kennebunkport on the road to Harrison Murphy's. Martha released her dower rights. The deed was witnessed by Jason N. Langdon, and Nancy N. Langdon.[3]
Thomas, age 73, is listed in the 1850 census for Kennebunkport as being a farmer. He and his wife Martha, age 65, have a multigenerational household. Their son Ephraim age 25; his wife Susannah) age 23; and their children Lucy J age 4; and James age 1 along with a 42 year old fisherman William Wildesis living in their home. Their property was valued at $300.00.[4]
1860, based on the census, and his neighbors, Thomas, is still living in the same home and farming; but no longer owns real estate. He is enumerated under his son Ephraim Huff as head of the household with his family. Ephraim is listed as owning real estate and lists his occupation ans farmer.[5]
Thomas Huff passed away 17 May 1866 in Kennebunkport, Maine at the age of 89. "Town Farm" is written in the remarks column..[6]
