Gertrude Aline Huggins was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in January, 1910. She was the daughter of George Melbourne Huggins and Florence Isoletta Cole.[1]
After her father had overseen the reconstruction of Richmond school, which had been destroyed in the 1917 Halifax Explosion, the surviving family members removed to Los Angeles, California.[2] Please refer to the profile for George Melbourne Huggins for more information about the family's ordeal in the Halifax Explosion.
After the death of her father in Los Angeles in 1928, Gertrude accompanied her mother and sister, Gladys Alice, to live in Vancouver, British Columbia.[3]
The U.S. 1930 census recorded Gertrude Aline with her mother, and sister, Gladys, on a visit to her brother George in Los Angeles.[4]
It appears that Gertrude Aline (or Aline Gertrude, as she was sometimes recorded) elected to stay in the United States as, on the 1st June 1936, she married Frank Rose in Santa Ana, California. Frank was from Missouri, the son of Allen Rose and Minnie Dye.[5] The marriage was dissolved in 1949.[6]
Gertrude Aline removed to British Columbia and married John Oliver Peacock, a native of Newcastle, Northumberland, England.[7]
Gertrude Aline Peacock formerly Rose, née Huggins, died at White Rock, British Columbia, on the 21st March 1986, in her seventy-seventh year.[8] Her body was buried in Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery in Surrey.[7]
