Biography
Sarah was a Friend (Quaker)
Sarah was born about 1693 based on her attaining the legal right to marry. She was a member of the Society of Friends and her marriage to Thomas Atkinson was recorded in the Records of the Henrico Monthly Meeting in Charles City, Virginia. [1] Their first intention of marriage was recorded at the Monthly Meeting on the 8th day of the 11th month in 1713. (March being the first month of the year which gives an actual date of 8 Jan 1714).[2] They would have published their intentions three times at the Monthly Meeting before being married on 12 Feb 1714 (This is often miscalculated as 12 Dec 1713 but their actual marriage was on the 12th day of the 12th month in 1713. Until 1752 the colonial calendar began in March so the 12th month was February. It was transcribed incorrectly in the source cited.)[3]
Find a Grave shows an estate inventory dated May of 1730. She would have died before this was done. Unfortunately the FindaGrave memorial has since been removed.
