Biography
George was baptised on 28 January 1838 in English Bicknor by parents John and Elizabeth. The family lived at Hillersland and John was a Labourer. His birthdate was noted. [1]
In 1851 George was one of 2 children living with parents John and Elizabeth in 'East Dean - Cinderford Iron Works'. (Berry Hill is in West Dean). John was a labourer at Iron Works. [2]
In 1861 George Hughes (born in the Forest of Dean), Railway Porter was a patient at the Hospital for Consumption and Diseases of the Chest in Brompton, Kensington, Middlesex. [3]
No further records have been found.

Research Note: There is no evidence that George was married to Caroline (McVay) Hughes (1839-1885). Catherine's husband George Hughes was listed as being born in Pennsylvania. Therefore she is removed as George's wife.
