Biography

was listed as a Waggoner in Burke Co, NC records. May have been an Indian trader, married a Cherokee and disappeared into Indian territory in 1800s.[1]

Biography

There was a John Hughes in Burke Co. near Morganton, NC as early as 1785. "John Hughes, Jacob Forney, and Samuel Hughey were bonded in 1785" (To run a tavern)." In 1826 Thomas Hughes was the proprietor of the Tavern in place of John Hughes".[2]

John X died 1812 Burke, N.C....John's dad was born in Wales named Thomas Hughes, b. 1750..his dad David Hughes b. abt 1717 son of Michael Hughes[3]
